Paper Title: Digital Twins and Blockchain in the Physical Internet: Transforming Military Logistics
Conference Name: ICMIC 2024
Abstract: The Physical Internet (PI) represents a transformative approach to logistics, proposing a globally interconnected system of standardized containers, protocols, and inter-modal hubs aimed at enhancing sustainability and efficiency. Central to realizing the PI's full potential, especially in military logistics, is the effective implementation of PI-Hubs, which serve as critical nodes for managing the flow of goods. This paper focuses on advancing PI-Hub operations through the integration of Digital Twin technology, supplemented by Blockchain for enhanced security and data integrity. Our research introduces a Digital Twin framework specifically tailored for PI-Hubs, designed to optimize logistics processes through real-time monitoring, advanced visualization, and AI-driven resource management. The integration of these technologies addresses significant challenges in military logistics, such as the need for high security, rapid responsiveness, and operational flexibility. Initial results indicate substantial improvements in decision-making and operational efficiency, demonstrating the viability of this integrated approach to revolutionize military logistics within the Physical Internet paradigm.
