The preservation of sensitive environmental data is critical to maintaining an eco-friendly and sustainable climate. Unauthorized access to this sensitive information has resulted in issues detrimental to human existence. This study examined technological frameworks deployed to monitor and manage environmental data for informed decision-making. Ineffective means of authenticating data, high computational complexity, incorporation of insufficient monitoring sensors, lack of trustworthiness, etc. are major issues in the IoT-Blockchain frameworks for environmental data monitoring. With the development of lightweight AI-driven and blockchain-empowered systems, cost-effective and efficient security of environmental data is guaranteed.
